Started in 2008 by two brothers, Robert and Gary Heslin, who were high school cross-country and track teammates of Dr. William A. Petit, Jr., this USATF-certified point-to-point 5K (plus a 1.3-mile fitness walk option) was created to honor Dr. Petit's wish to give back and celebrate the legacy of his wife and daughters. Since its inception, the event has helped the Petit Family Foundation distribute over $4.5 million in grants to programs and projects throughout Connecticut, the Northeast, and across the United States.
