Reebok: What's So Special?

When you think of Reebok you might not originally think of running shoes. This brand is known for having a wide variety of sneakers and athletic shoes.

However, they also have an awesome selection of men’s and women’s road running shoes.

The majority of the running shoes they sell are lightweight, generally around seven to ten ounces, and have a moderate heel to toe drop at around eight to ten millimeters on average.

Most of the shoes Reebok offers have a soft heel and forefoot cushioning while having a minimal amount of flexibility, which offers for a moderately stable shoe.

More stability comes in from the top part of the shoe, which is made of a mesh or other breathable material that helps stabilize your feet and ankles throughout your run.

The running shoes offered by Reebok are definitely budget friendly; the cost of one pair of running shoes ranges anywhere from $75 to $120 on average with a couple models of select running shoes that range all the way up to the $140 range of the price spectrum.

Reebok makes great running shoes for the everyday runner. If you are just getting into running or run lighter mileage a week on roads, a treadmill, or a track, these shoes would be a great fit for you!

They work seamlessly as comfortable work shoes or walking shoes into jogging shoes or cross training shoes. However, if you are a longer distance runner, put in higher mileage per week, or run on trails more than roads, track, or a treadmill, these shoes might not work as well for your work out lifestyle.

Reebok makes a quality running shoe that focuses on stability and support rather than durability. The weight of their running shoes are comparable to Asics or Brooks however, the will not last as long.

New Balance: What's So Special?

This classic American shoe company has been well known for not just decades, but over a century.

New Balance started out in Boston, Massachusetts in 1906 as the”New Balance Arch Support Company,” and it is now well known throughout the world for their variety of athletic shoes.

This well known athletic shoe company is so well known for a reason; they have a huge variety of not only athletic shoes in general, but also a huge variety of different kinds of running shoes.

Keep mind that there are new running shoes companies popping up over the years, like On and Allbirds. These two giants continue to thrive.

New Balance makes running shoes that range anywhere from racing shoes to lightweight road shoes to trail shoes and everything in between. New Balance road shoes tend to have a heel to toe drop of around eight millimeters on average (slightly less than Nike).

Also the men’s shoes weigh on average seven to eight ounces while the women’s neutral road shoes weigh between five and six ounces. They are incredibly lightweight while still having neutral support and stability that will last the mileage.

The average drop tends to be a moderate heel to toe drop height of around eight millimeters while the weight does vary depending on the type of running shoes.

The heaviest running shoes are the trail and stability shoes, but while they are the heaviest weighing in around nine to eleven ounces on average, they are still an average weight for stability shoes and will definitely last the mileage to keep you comfortable and happy throughout your entire run.

New Balance running shoes cost anywhere from the $60 range all the way up to the $120 range depending on the model of shoe you buy as well as which website you buy your shoes from.

These shoes are great for people who have wide or average width feet as they offer both wide and average width shoes. I would also highly recommend them for anyone who is either just getting into running or is an experienced runner looking for a new shoe to try out for a training cycle.

In comparison, Both are incredibly lightweight while still having neutral support and stability, New Balance offers a running shoe that will last longer and withstand hundreds of miles.

Reebok vs. New Balance -Which Brand is Right for You Wrap-Up

Both of these iconic athletic shoe brands sell incredible running shoes that will work perfectly for each unique person who discovers how their feet and bodies fit in their shoes and their stride.

However, as far as which shoe brand to choose, my recommendation would be for runners who are just beginning their running journey or runners who put less mileage on each pair of shoes to look at either New Balance or Reebok.

Both have amazing options; Reebok running shoes work great for going straight from work to a work out while New Balance are definitely going to be you just work out running shoes.

For you runners who run on trails or put high mileage on each pair of shoes I would definitely recommend taking a look at the New Balance shoes as they tend to have a sturdier outer sole that will last the long distance in order to ensure your comfort, support, and happiness throughout the miles of your run.

Now that you have a place to start your shoe search journey, you can go out into the world of running shoes hopefully less overwhelmed and intimidated. Happy running!
