Founded in 2011 by firefighter Andy Nestor, this Parkersburg 5K aims to distribute free athletic shoes to children who need them but can't afford them, working with local school nurses to identify deserving kids. Run by River City Runners and Walkers Club, the completely free program has handed out hundreds of shoes since its start and encourages young people to embrace an active lifestyle through sports and outdoor play.
