Black Canyon Ascent
Since 1977, San Juan Mountain Runners has been hosting this demanding 6-mile point-to-point race in Montrose, Colorado, featuring nearly 2,000 feet of elevation gain on paved roads starting at 6,500 feet. You'll tackle two aid stations along the way before crossing the finish line at the South Rim amphitheater in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, where you can refuel with breakfast burritos, soak in the incredible scenery, and connect with fellow runners. A mandatory shuttle will transport you from Montrose to the start, and your race bib doubles as your park re-entry pass plus gets you brewery discounts, with all race proceeds supporting Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.
