Paddle down the Upper Leaf River in Hattiesburg this June 27th (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) for the 2nd Annual Drew Turner Memorial Paddle, honoring the life of a passionate outdoorsman known as "The Man In The Dugout Canoe." This 11-mile journey from Church Street in Eastabuchie to Chain Park at Highway 11 is organized by Piney Woods Conservation Group and Pinebelt Blueways, and welcomes everyoneβwhether you bring your own boat or use one of the 25-30 kayaks and canoes provided. Drew, who co-owned Turner Brothers Taxidermy in Historic Downtown Hattiesburg with his brother Kyle, was devoted to hunting, fishing, trapping, and paddling, and even hand-carved dugout canoes from poplar trees in 2011 and 2015.
