ASICS GT-1000 vs. 2000 (The Differences)

There are dozens of different brands of running shoes, and there are even more different models within each brand.

This can be extremely intimidating at first.

What is the difference between the different models or the different versions of each model?

While a newer model might seem like the obvious best choice for anyone, each shoe is going to have different qualities that work well for different people.

Asics has been a solid choice for runners for many years and many runners compare them to Brooks.

ASICS GT-1000 vs. 2000 - The Differences

The biggest difference between the Asics GT 1000 & the GT 2000 is that the GT 1000 is that both stability shoes offer a responsive ride featuring a comfortable upper and a durable outsole. The GT 2000 however, offers an extra forefoot gel unit called AHAR for shock absorption and increased durability.

In short, The GT-2000 is a higher-quality shoe and an overall more comfortable. The GT-1000 is the budget version but lacks some of the additional cushioning in your forefoot. I would go with the GT 2000 if you plan on doing longer runs. The GT 1000 is a great value and is durable for the everyday runner.

ASICS GT-1000:

Enjoy comfort and stability on your runs with every single stride with the GT-1000, featuring FLYTEFOAM Propel technology for an extremely lightweight quality that will make you feel as light as a feather throughout your run.

With ASICS’s special GORE-TEX fabric for a waterproof quality, these running shoes guarantee a comfortable fit.

With its gel technology towards the heel of this stability shoe, it provides high-density shock absorption to extend comfort over long distance runs.

In addition, the special EVA sockliner provides excellent cushioning and rebound, while keeping the foot stable to ensure maximum comfort as well.

The ASICS DuoMax Support System and Trusstic System technology also works to improve stability in the mid-foot area, helping to control torsion with the contoured midsole in order to maintain stability and control in your stride.

The toe box is average, it was a little tight for my toes but I also have very wide feet.

Also, Asics high abrasion rubber outer sole helps to reduce the damage from excessive wear on your shoes and feet which allows you to run on most terrains with confidence and reassurance.

This also helps to extend the lifetime of your shoes. In addition to providing comfort and stability, the GT-1000 running shoes also work to counteract overpronation with DUOMAX technology, which adds necessary firmness to the midsole and also adds it to the arch.

A standard width makes them accessible to most runners, and the shoe is put together with a contemporary design.

The FLYTEFOAM technology brings a lightweight quality for comfort and bounce.

This allows the shoe to snap back to its original state after every single stride. Also, the DYNAMIC DUOMAX technology brings together two different density midsole materials for smooth overpronation control by adding essential firmness to the midsole and arch of the shoe.

So, if your feet tend to roll inwards you can know for sure that the GT 2000 running shoe will help your running form. I have wide feet so the toe box was a little cramped for me when I tried these.

If you are looking for a shoe that will keep you comfortable and last through long training runs, I recommend the GT-2000.

However, if you are newer to running and not doing super long training runs, the GT-1000 is also an incredible choice.

If you have issues with plantar fasciitis or Achilles tendinitis, I would again recommend the GT-2000 for the slightly higher heel to toe drop.

Conclusion: ASICS GT-1000 vs. 2000

While shopping for new running shoes can be extremely overwhelming and sometimes, there are distinct differences between shoes that can help you make the final decision.

While many shoes are very similar, different shoes will work best for different people and different peoples’ running lives and training. Regardless of which shoe you pick, I wish you happy running!
