This 5K race and 1-mile fun run, held annually at the Valley City Street Fair in Ohio, honors Assistant Chief Arthur Schumacher, who tragically lost his life in a water rescue in 1992 while serving the Valley City–Liverpool Township Fire Department. All race proceeds support the Arthur E. Schumacher Scholarship Fund, which helps local firefighters and EMS personnel pursue further education in their field. After a few years away due to the pandemic, the Valley City Firefighters Association and community volunteers are excited to bring this meaningful event back to runners this year.
